An area tribe owns land along I-29, just south of Grand Forks. The proposed casino would include a 200-plus-room hotel, conference facilities, entertainment center and convenience store.

The Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa has purchased land along the southwest edge of Grand Forks with hopes of building a casino, reigniting a conversation that has been happening in Grand Forks for at least 20 years.

If SB 2376 passes, it would open an opportunity for the tribe to expand beyond its boundary. The casino could see gross gaming revenue of nearly $80 million in its first year.
