There will be big changes across central Indiana over the next 24 hours. Winds turn gusty, the cold eases briefly before more arctic air returns and snow is in the forecast!

It's a bitter cold start to Thursday with wind chills that have dropped below zero. Winds have ease but are still gusting out of the northwest 20-30 mph. Arctic air is flowing back into the state. Unfortunately, temperatures won't rebound much into the afternoon. High temperatures will only rise to the low 20s this afternoon, marking the coldest air of the season, so far. Wind chills at the warmest part of the day will only be in the low teens.

Cold and snow are the weather headlines for Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures have fallen to the 20s Wednesday morning with highs only in the mid 30s today. Snow returns to the area today. There could be a few snow showers late morning but primary impacts will come in the afternoon and evening, impacting the evening commute. Snow will be scattered in nature with some brief bursts of heavy snow with gusty winds possible. Overall, snow totals are expected to be light but it doesn't take much to create very slick conditions. While most will receive a light coating, a few locations could receive as much as 1″ if you get under some of the heavier bursts of snow.

After a wet start to Wednesday, rain is moving out. Some patchy drizzle may linger until the lunch hour but the afternoon will be dry and mostly cloudy. Our cooling trend continues and high temperatures today will only climb a few degrees from where we were this morning. Expect highs in the low to mid 40s this afternoon.
