Parts of Minnesota are facing a severe drought triggering statewide conservation warnings. State Climatologist Luigi Romolo says the latest report from the U.S. Drought Monitor shows that nearly half of the state is facing severe conditions, and local water suppliers have been asked to scale back usage.

The ownership of the Timberwolves appears to be changing again, barely a year after the NBA approved the sale to Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore. Businessman Marc Stad is completing a deal to become the controlling owner and largest shareholder of the Timberwolves and Lynx after purchasing Lore's share for a $4.5 billion valuation.

It's been one year since the tragic mass shooting at Annunciation Church and School in Minneapolis. Among those looking back, are MPD first responders, a rare occurrence for these law enforcement officers to share after such a horrific experience: " I saw it was children coming out of the church. These children were injured."

Christian Castro is in Texas after being arrested in May. Minnesota state prosecutors filed charges against him for 2nd-degree assault and falsely reporting a crime.

Minnesota farmers are bracing for impact, as the tariff war with Canada heats up again. This after U.S and Canadian trade negotiations broke down, triggering a fresh set of tariffs from both sides. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced Tuesday they'll match the U.S. tariffs "dollar-for-dollar."

No felony charges will be filed by Hennepin County against Jake Lang, the activist who was arrested for attempting to incite a riot outside Minneapolis City Hall on Saturday. ​Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty called Lang's conduct 'despicable and disgusting,' but said there is no path forward for felony charges.

Paul Stagg, a former WCCO announcer and a longtime staple on Willmar radio, has died. He was 83. Stagg served various roles with WCCO including as a staff announcer, music director, or reading the news and weather. Stagg was also the General Manager of WCCO-FM which eventually became WLTE under his supervision.

Minneapolis-based General Mills said Wednesday it has removed artificial colors from all its U.S. cereals, including Lucky Charms and Trix. Instead, the company has shifted to fruit- and vegetable-based dyes as well as colors derived from spices like turmeric and paprika to give its cereals their customary bright colors.

18-year-old Carson Peters-Berger has pleaded guilty to killing and raping 10-year-old Lily Peters in Chippewa Falls four years ago. He was given a life sentence with the possibility of extended supervision after 25 years. ​Peters-Berger is Peters cousin and said he planned to kill her "from the get-go."

Could the Trump administration's trade war with Canada actually pose an electrical shortage for some Minnesotans? Ontario Premier Doug Ford said "everything is on the table" if the dispute worsens, including cutting off electricity from Ontario. Minnesota currently gets 5-10% of its electricity from the state's northern neighbor.
