This week, Amazon drivers organized with the Teamsters in Skokie, Illinois, went on strike over the company's violations of labor law. The workers are demanding Amazon recognize and bargain with their union.

Workers cast 878 ballots at JFK8 Amazon fulfillment center on Staten Island, N.Y. The tally broke down to 829 votes in favor of the affiliation and 14 against it; 10 ballots were spoiled.

“Don’t get played by this scab billionaire,” Fain, president of the United Auto Workers, said in response to Donald Trump. “Stand up and fight for more.”

“The path forward is clear,” said UAW President Shaw Fain, “we will defeat Donald Trump and his billionaire agenda and elect a champion for the working class to the highest office in this country.”

In its first-ever elections for top officers, the Amazon Labor Union on Staten Island voted in new leaders backed by the union's reform caucus. The victorious slate ran on promises of transforming the union and winning a first contract.
