The Coronado High School (CHS) Model United Nations (MUN) Teams made their way to Del Mar City Hall last weekend to participate in a county-wide MUN conference. Last year was Coronado’s first year bringing back MUN since Covid. This year, CHS had three teams competing. Veteran members, Co-President Maria Laguna, Co-President Hannah Cohen, and Vice President Pia Gil, attended yet again. While new members, Sophia Daly, Claudia Geraldi, and Jack Kennard, experienced the conference with fresh eyes. The teams advisor, Christopher Irwig, helped ceaselessly support the team yet again.

On Tuesday, April 9, Coronado students were honored with World Language Awards to recognize their achievements in languages other than English. Students, faculty, and families gathered in the Coronado Performing Arts Center for the evening ceremony.

When April rolls around and the white tents emerge in Spreckels Park, Coronado locals know it’s time for the annual Flower Show. The show is presented by the Coronado Floral Association with support from the City of Coronado, and this year marked the 102nd anniversary. Each year welcomes a new theme and this year’s, “Ocean of Flowers,” was perfect for this beach community. Guests flocked to the park on Saturday and Sunday, April 20 and 21 to take in the beauty of the flowers, arrangements and displays as well as partake in the activities offered.

The Coronado School of the Arts (CoSA) spring musical Pippin had a magical opening weekend. The show premiered on Friday, April 26, with additional shows on April 27 and 28.
