Representative Jenna Jacobson (D-Oregon) took her oath of office on Monday, Jan. 13 for her next term in the Wisconsin State Assembly at the Monroe Public Library.Jacobson thanked her constituents for their trust and pledged to keep advocating for the state’s 50th Assembly District.

The Madison Metro Lynx’s rally came up short in a 2-1 Badger Conference loss to Viroqua on Thursday, Jan. 16, at the Madison Ice Arena.

The Verona boys hockey team had its four-game winning streak snapped in a 1-0 nonconference loss to Edgewood on Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Verona Ice Arena.

The Verona boys swimming team set a meet record in the 400-yard freestyle relay and finished second at the Cardinal Relays on Saturday, Jan. 18, at Middleton High School.

Arwen Marse won a championship at 185 pounds at the Big Eight Girls Showcase on Friday, Jan. 17, at Verona Area High School. Marse (23-7) was one of eight grapplers for the Wildcats to finish in the top three. Verona finished second in the Big Eight Showcase with 154 points. Janesville Craig won the team title (261.5). Verona then took second place at the Westby Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 18, at Westby High School.

The Wildcats used their press at points with success to move two steps closer to winning a fourth straight Big Eight championship after winning three games last week, including two conference contests.
