Remarking on the benefits seen through the town’s GreenDeed program, the Crested Butte council agreed last month to shift money around to fund the program by $100,000 in 2025. GreenDeed works with owners of deed-restricted units in town to provide free energy assessment and energy efficiency improvements. It utilizes GV-HEAT, a division of the Gunnison Valley Regional Housing Authority to run the program.

As of this week just seven people have applied for the nine workforce rental housing units that should come online in Crested Butte’s Paradise Park and be ready for occupancy late this winter and into the spring. Applications were opened November 26 and will remain open until December 31 and these income-restricted rentals require local workforce participation. A lottery will be held in January and those selected could move in as early as this February or March.

The Crested Butte town council approved a last-minute request from the Chabad Jewish Community Center Aspen Valley to close Fourth Street by the CB Museum for an hour on December 29 to hold a Menorah lighting ceremony, but councilmembers asked staff how to make sure the town is protected when organizations from outside of town request such street closures.
