There is no question “Deep Water” covers all the bases in classic disaster film terms…one in which due to unexpected events, a group of people are trapped in a do-or-die situation that in the end only a few survive.

In a stunning move rarely if ever seen, the sequel to 2006's “The Devil Wears Prada” features the same director, screenwriter, producers, and all of its principal cast members -- and many of the same themes presented in the first film are on tap in the sequel.

When I heard that James Cameron, of all filmmakers, had filmed Billie Eilish in concert (in 2025) and was releasing a movie on it, I had to scratch my head.

Forgive me if I digress and provide commentary on a film released weeks ago that I should have reviewed, but needs to be discussed in light of its progressively-minded contemporary messaging.

“Is God Is” is a violent allegorical tale that explores the gulf or maybe not between what’s right and what’s righteous…a story of revenge, or justice, the terms seem to vary throughout the film.

I believe I set a record of notetaking after seeing “The Wizard of the Kremlin,” a film that condenses the stunning swings of governmental rule in Russia after the collapse of Communism in 1991.

The filmmakers of “Obsession,” namely writer-director Curry Barker, want you to believe this film is different…something different in the horror genre…something you haven’t seen before.

It would be a struggle for anyone of right mind to try and describe the contents of “I Love Boosters,” an absurdist fantasy comedy with tart, baffling messaging about Black protests, right or wrong, against white corporate elitism in the high-fashion industry that completely loses its thin narrative thread in the second half.

“Pressure,” as in “pressure cooker,” is an account of crucial decisions made days before the Allies launched their historic landings on the Normandy beaches on June 6th, 1944.

There are a lot of moral conundrums involved in “Power Ballad,” ranging from doing the right thing, at what cost does fame matter to you, honesty, allegiance to your family, and never give up on seeking your dreams…if they’re reachable.
