Oliver Anthony, the little-known country singer of last year's viral “ Rich Men North Of Richmond ,” posted a video yesterday titled “What I've Learned from the Music Industry So Far…” where he reflects on his dealings with the mainstream music industry. He also disparaged Beyoncé's album in an anecdote where an unnamed management company apparently pitched him a marketing idea where he'd praise Beyoncé's country album, which Anthony rejected.

A few months since releasing their 26th album , the always busy King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard stopped by the Fabulous Fox Theatre in Atlanta to perform the album's title track with the Songs For Kids Band: an ensemble of kids and young adults with disabilities, injuries, and illnesses who participate in the city's Songs For Kids music mentorship program. (“The band emphasizes the power of teamwork and support for each other, bringing together kids that would otherwise be on a more solitary journey,” the foundation's YouTube page says.) Janine Rainforth, singer and co-founder of Bristol post-punk outfit Maximum Joy, has announced her debut solo album, Soul Retrieval , coming in February. Rainforth formed Maximum Joy in 1981 with ex-Glaxo Babies member Tony Wrafter and released a handful of avant-pop/funk-punk singles (“Stretch” being the best-known) plus an album, 1982's Adrian Sherwood-produced Station MXJY . But Rainforth abruptly left the music industry after a violent assault, which she said in 2019 was “rape and attempted murder” from someone within her close professional circle.

Back in September, New Jersey avant-rapper (and former Stereogum Artist To Watch ) Fatboi Sharif released a collaborative album with Fat Tony and Steel Tipped Dove called . Also this past fall, Fatboi Sharif hopped on a track, “ Old Dead Dogs ,” with Future Islands' Samuel T. Herring (under the singer's rap moniker Hemlock Ernst).
