Fatal and serious automobile accident rates that had been declining since 1994 stalled around 2010 and had been on the rise since about 2014. County data showed that the crashes were concentrated in the city of Milwaukee. That's what made the federal government's recently announced award of $25 million under the federal Safe Streets and Roads for All program such welcome news. What could be more important? Not much.
