Posted: Updated: We have been watching a fairly strong, upper-level trough of low pressure and attendant cold front that spawned our rain and thunderstorms Wednesday.
Morning low temperatures will be in the mid to upper 60s Monday through Wednesday and in the low to mid-60s Thursday through the weekend with mostly sunny skies. Afternoon highs will be either side of 90 Monday and Tuesday with mid to upper 80s through next weekend. And, do note that no rain is expected, and the “drought” may last way too long! We keep hoping and waiting for “Fine Fall Weather” but it's just not happening! However, there is a reason that it will likely stick around for a while longer. A stubborn upper-level ridge of high pressure has taken up residence well to our east. At the same time, a stubborn and potent trough of low pressure is well to our west. The upper high pressure to our east will try to make a trek westward and make an effort to dominate our weather by blocking any return of moisture into the ArkLaTex. And that, in turn, keeps us “Desert Dry”!
Again, keep your fingers crossed for a bit of much-needed rain.

We will see a return of dry weather as we go through mid-week along with a return to warmer weather with sunny to partly cloudy skies and S to SE winds. By Wednesday into Wednesday night, a much stronger upper-level trough of low pressure and attendant cold front will make a move into the ArkLaTex with rain and thunderstorms late Wednesday, and lasting through at least Saturday. It appears, at this early point, that there could be beneficial rain, quite gusty winds, and small hail involved. This will be monitored closely.
