The arrival at any milestone, on the path of any pursuit, is not the end of a journey. Every milestone is a stepping stone for the opening of new vistas of opportunities and understanding. To see beyond the visible is a predominant trait required in a leader. The end of a journey should always be the start of the next journey.

What is demagoguery? In Ancient Greece, demagogue literally meant a leader of the people. Over the centuries, the meaning changed and has come to represent a person who appeals to greed, fear and hatred, stirring up revolt based on prejudice and bias.

The mere mention of the word ‘harassment' evokes, regardless of cultural or geographic setting, associations with gender. Globally, harassment has come to denote gender-based intimidation and persistent pestering. A simple dictionary definition of harassment is: “If someone is abusing, insulting, intimidating, coercing, or otherwise harming you, either verbally, physically, or mentally, on a regular basis, that is harassment.” Continuous torment of the mind is harassment.

The corporatization of business in the last century has created the need for getting properly qualified and experienced professionals to run the affairs of a business.

The very concept of independence of any sort or type is an illusion. There exists no such idealism in reality. Every man and institution is dependent. Even with legal recognition, to think that individuals would act ‘independently' with no external trappings or considerations is abject foolishness and stupidity. Despite this reality, there are directors on the board who are classified as independent.

Planning often receives less attention from leadership than other managerial functions as leaders get bogged down in the daily routine and grind. This is not to say that they should ignore the everyday items, but an over-emphasis on daily organizational chores leads to micro-management.

There is perhaps no person who dislikes the attention of others. To glow in the spotlight is an innate desire for most. People will perform many clownish acts just to be in the spotlight and though onlookers or spectators might laugh at such a person, many of them would not hesitate to do the same.

Perhaps despondency has never loomed as menacingly as it does now, both individually and collectively. We have no one to blame but ourselves, for we create the environment in which we live. It is within our power either to seek happiness and satisfaction in existing conditions or to remain perpetually in the dungeons of self-pity and despair. William Blake, in his poem “London,” seems to be speaking directly to our current situation; writing between 1789-1794, he observed, “I wandered through each chartered street, Near where the chartered Thames does flow, A mark in every face I meet, Marks of weakness, Marks of woe. In every cry of every man, In every Infant's cry of fear, In every voice, In every ban, The mind-forged manacles I hear.” Today, if the poem were retitled to represent any city in this land, the words would resonate with every “living soul.”
