The Beaver River wildfire has grown from 50 hectares to 140 hectares since Saturday evening.

By Spencer Hall The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George has issued an evacuation alert due to the wildfire located south of Dunster, which has grown to 15 hectares since its discovery on Friday.

The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George has issued an evacuation order for 10 McBride properties due to the Beaver River east of McBride, which has expanded from 240 hectares Sunday evening to 500 hectares Monday morning.

The final bus provided by the Municipality of Jasper for evacuees fleeing wildfires in Jasper National Park left Valemount on Wednesday afternoon.

Incident commander for Parks Canada Katie Ellsworth said the fire was driven by strong winds from the south and southeast and reached the municipality shortly after 6 p.m. MDT.

Parks Canada says cooler weather conditions are reducing the severity of fire behavior, aiding the 154 firefighters battling blazes in the Jasper wildfire complex.

Highway 16 is set to reopen Friday morning at 7 a.m. to all motorists looking to travel through Jasper.

BC Wildfire Service says the fire is located about 15 km from Valemount and currently poses no threat to the village of Valemount, though it is highly visible from the village and anyone out recreating in the surrounding areas near the north end of Kinbasket Lake.

Since its launch in December 2013, Three Ranges Brewing has been a favourite gathering spot for Valemount locals and tourists alike.
