It was a special weekend for indie legend, showman extraordinaire, and ringmaster of exceptional renown Jerry Fish as he launched his new album'Dreaming Of Daniel'. The new album featuring MayKay (Fight Like Apes) is a labour of love focusing on songs by the late, great Daniel Johnston. Jerry celebrated the album launch in MusicZone Cork and LIVE at Coughlans on Sunday. During his appearance at MusicZone Jerry explained why he recorded this collection of songs "I felt compelled to record and release an album of Daniel's work, not alone is his lyrical wit and honesty an inspiration to me and a multitude of artists the world over, we have so much fun performing his songs live. The album ‘Dreaming of Daniel’ captures the joy we experience on stage performing Daniel’s songs, it’s infectious.”
WINTERVAL makes Grand OPENING with the Christmas Parade, Amazing Pyrotechnics Display, and Christmas Lights Illumination. Winterval, Ireland’s largest Christmas festival officially opened in Waterford City on Friday with the traditional turning on of the Christmas Lights by Mayor of Waterford City & County Cllr. Jason Murphy, and of course Santa. In front of a huge crowd by the Helter Skelter Christmas slide and Winterval main stage on Broadstreet, the festival kicked off with the Waterford Academy of Music & Arts, and TheatreBox Stage School & Dance Academy. WLR's Dymphna Nugent was officiating over proceedings where she interviewed Waterford's Mayor Cllr. Jason Murphy as 2024 sees Waterford City hold the title of European City of Christmas. The evening's main event, however, was up to the man in red, Mr. Claus, as Santa himself made a special appearance to turn on the Winterval Christmas lights.

Again Lisa Hannigan underlined her class with an amazing opening to her new headline tour with an intimate yet powerful performance at the Theatre Royal Waterford last night. It was a three course serving of excellence as Lisa's support was by Willy Mason and Dani Larkin. And for the main course the Kilcloon singer/songwriter was joined by Theodora Byrne (vocals), Yuki Numata Resnick (violin), Clarice Jensen (cello), Karen Cowley (Krea) (vocals), and Jane Patterson (vocals). It is wrong in this case to label Willy Mason and Dani Larkin as support as they performed as more of an entrée, Willy was accompanied by The Alpha Gals aka Lexie Roth and Jessie Pinnick. Their blend of new and old classic Americana music with a hint of Bluegrass was the perfect opening. Then it was the turn of the beguiling, intense and driven folk songs of Armagh's Dani Larkin. The night however belonged to the glorious voice of Lisa Hannigan. This new show titled "Lisa Hannigan and Friends" is an reimagining of her music and was created following her residency at the Irish Arts Centre, New York earlier this year.
