This photograph, which depicts Casey Lee, 32 of Hodgenville (left), and Danielle Estepp, 37 of Hodgenville, at a local Dollar General self-checkout, was uploaded to the Hodgenville Police Department’s social media on Dec. 23. The post accused the pair of shoplifting over $150 of merchandise and requested the public’s help to identify them. Both Estepp and Lee were identified, arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition shoplifting. The holiday season has is coming to and end, and it is officially that time of year when Christmas trees are disassembled and put up for another year. It is also when decorators find it’s time to discard their holiday lights. Luckily, a new recycling opportunity will give everyone the chance to keep the holidays merry and landfills empty.

Public libraries are an invaluable community tool that provide access to a vast array of services, ranging from book and movie loans to technology sessions to programs, and everything in between. To praise these amenities, the benefits they provide and the individuals who utilize them, National Library Lovers’ Month is celebrated annually in February.

With 2.6 million reports submitted to the Federal Trade Commission, U.S. consumers report losing more than $10 billion to fraud in 2023. Scam tactics range from investments to imposters to online shopping issues, and everything in between. In an effort to protect local businesses and organizations from these scams, Bryce Shumate, Magnolia Bank Security Officer and Hodgenville Police Officer, offered an overview of the situation.
