VALLEY — EAMC-Lanier Nursing Hone Administrator Alison Yarbrough was the guest speaker at the Monday evening meeting of the Valley Lions Club. She has been in her current position since August 2017 and with Lanier in some capacity for 20 years. She was one of Program Chairman Sam Bradford's students when he was the principal at Valley High.

The cities of LaFayette, Lanett and Valley will each be hosting a Veterans Day program this year. On Saturday morning, LaFayette will have a mile-long parade ending at the Health and Wellness Center. At 11 a.m. on Monday, the City of Lanett will have a program inside the council chamber at city hall. American Legion Post 67 will be hosting a program in Valley. If the weather is good it will be taking place in Veterans Park in Langdale; it its raining it will be indoors at Valley Community Center.

VALLEY — The adjutant of American Legion Post 67 talked about his experience in the Vietnam War, and the post commander thanked two local Kia suppliers for what they do for our few remaining veterans of the Korean War at Monday's Veterans Day program in Veterans Park.

LANETT — The Lanett High auditorium had been in need of an upgrade for some time. Superintendent Jennifer Boyd and members of the Lanett City Board of Education made a commitment to do that in 2023. Work began on a major renovation this past spring and on Tuesday during the noon hour the Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce played host to a ribbon cutting and unveiling of a like-new Verdis F. Bible Fine Arts Center.

HUGULEY — The Myers family has been helping people for 50 years now. Hermon and Cheryl Myers started doing this from their home in 1974. Adopted sons James, Jeffrey and Tony came to live with them that year and have been a help to them ever since, as has their daughter Christy.

VALLEY — The Kiwanis Club of Valley had a very successful fundraiser with a Christmas raffle that raised close to $2,000.
