AMMAN — Director General of the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) Amjad Rawashdeh said that Jordan and Saudi Arabia have completed economic and technical feasibility studies for an electrical interconnection project between the two nations. Rawashdeh also noted that draft agreements for the project are "almost done", according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. The director stressed the strategic significance of the interconnection project during a workshop in Saudi Arabia, highlighting the potential to integrate Saudi Arabia into the Gulf interconnection system, creating a nucleus for regional electrical energy exchange based on regulatory and legislative agreements currently under development. Rawashdeh also highlighted the necessity of completing infrastructure projects to facilitate electrical connectivity among countries, referring to Jordan's proactive steps in this field, and mentioned ongoing projects, including the connection with Egypt and the development phase of the Iraq-Jordan link. The Dammam meetings are co-organised by the Arab League's Energy Department, the Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority, the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, and the World Bank Group.

AMMAN — The Jordan Free and Development Zones Group announced on Thursday a temporary shutdown of the Ajloun Cable Car for annual maintenance. The director of the Ajloun Cable Car Ezzedine Momani told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that the closure is scheduled between May 27 and June 14. The cable car project has provided 100 permanent jobs so far, in addition to nearly 800 temporary job opportunities during construction. The project was inaugurated in June, 2023 with a cost of JD12.5 million and includes 40 eight-passenger cabins, with a route extending over 2.5 kilometres.

Jordan’s capacity to steadfastly and prudently maneuver through regional and global problems is highlighted by the agency’s decision to upgrade the country’s long-term sovereign credit rating from B1 to Ba3, with a stable outlook.
