Viola has a problem. Shipwrecked on the coast of Ilyria, California, Viola disguises herself as a man and begins working for the city's Duke, Orsino, whom she quickly falls for. Orsino, however, is hopelessly in love with the beautiful society woman Olivia, despite her repeated rejections. Not all of them are equally good, but with Tom Cruise in the lead as Ethan Hunt, they can be counted on for at least a couple of mind-blowing stunt sequences per film, enough to keep fans clamoring for more.

Most of the films have failed to update the original in any meaningful way, and in many of the cases, they’re almost shot-for-shot remakes, making the reason for the new film’s existence even more confusing.
