After a slow start to the ski season, northern Utah mountain areas and resorts could see up to 30 inches of snow as a storm moves in Thursday night and continues through the first half of the weekend.

SALT LAKE CITY — Temperatures once again reached the 60s across the Wasatch Front on Thursday, giving further proof that it has been an unseasonably warm December.

With a majority of Utah experiencing severe or extreme drought conditions, any sign of increased precipitation is welcome news.

Active weather is expected throughout most of the state as an ample amount of moisture is in the atmosphere under a monsoon flow and moisture from the remnants of a Tropical Cyclone

Another surge of moisture from the south will keep active weather going to start the work week. This layer of moisture will be deep and bring heavy rain across central, southern, and eastern Utah.
