As the light brightens the deck every morning, I wake to see the Cotton Tails playing in their usual spots. Their lively antics soon attract a mix of squirrels, pigeons, doves, a passing roadrunner, and quail. I provide birdseed and rabbit food daily, finding great joy in watching them. However, I wonder whether this practice is genuinely beneficial. I am pondering the natural balance of this environment and whether my actions align with it.

Groundwork Arts is delighted to present artwork created by local elementary students as part of this year's Summer Enrichment Program with the Morongo Unified School District.

As of 2015, statistics revealed that residents of the Morongo Basin faced significant challenges in securing adequate nutrition due to geographic isolation and low family income. Alongside its environmental goals of reducing carbon emissions from organic waste in landfills, State Bill 1383 requires food manufacturers and distributors to separate and donate edible food to food banks. While large food chains were already donating food, SB 1383 has significantly increased donations.

The Twentynine Palms City Council began with an update from the newly formed Twentynine Palms Youth Council. Members are in sixth through 12th grade and are appointed to one-year terms. This year, the youth council includes Isaac and Tallulah Coleman, Thomas Elkins, Jaguar and Judah Goodwin, Izzabella Hargrove, Vivian Hermosillo, Jax Langdon, Audrina McConville, Pearl Sullivan, William Sumption, Brett Viloria, and Truman Walsh. Newly elected Chairperson Issac Coleman said they held their first board election and elected Vice Chairperson and Secretary. The Youth Council has plans to appoint a social media manager to keep the community informed.

Just three years ago, Measure Y funded resurfacing the aging runway at the Yucca Valley Airport. Last night, Mayor Robert Lombardo was the special guest at the Yucca Valley Airport District Board of Directors meeting to discuss a potential partnership between the Airport District Board and the Town of Yucca Valley to continue a much-needed upgrade and possible expansion of a historic and valuable Community asset.

During last week's City Council meeting, City Manager Stone James updated the Council on the current status of the Coachella Valley Housing Coalition (CVHC)'s self-help Home Ownership Program.

Mil-Tree is excited to present a collaborative concert featuring the participants of their singer-songwriter workshops and their talented leaders. Graffiti Art is about self-expression, emotions, ideas, and boldness. In this two-hour art project at the Twentynine Palms Art Gallery, young artists will create their name, nickname, and last name using graffiti-style lettering and supplies.
