Remembering his on-screen tribute to Boston baseball

I always say the end of the season brings out the drama. And I’m not even talking about the race to the postseason and the ups and downs that entails. As we Red Sox fans know, it really can be exhausting!

Could anyone have predicted the Sox and Jays would duke it out at the bottom of the standings in the last week of the season?

Here we are, the last Monday game of the 2024 season. Watching the fourth- and fifth-place teams in the AL East. Worst, and second-worst. Oh well, at least Rafael Devers doesn’t need surgery.

The need for pitching and (right-handed) hitting may require some tough decisions.

NESN and the Red Sox are inseparable. This is true not only on the balance sheet, with both entities rolling up to John Henry’s Fenway Sports Group (though Jeremy Jacobs’ Delaware North also owns 20% of the network), but in each of our homes. The Red Sox game is the meal and NESN is the chef. So how’s the chef doing?

I am not a baseball card collector by any means, but I have acquired a couple of cards here and there. I only look at three of them with any regularity. My best-looking Jim Rice card has been a fixture in my office for years. I recently added two to my bookshelf; they were gifts and I look at them every day. One is Carlton Fisk waving his ball fair. The other is Luis Tiant.
