Under dense fog, hundreds of people ready to brave the waters of Lake Michigan gathered on Oak Street Beach on Saturday morning for the Chicago Polar Bear Club (CPBC) 23rd annual Polar Plunge.

Escanciador is the Spanish tradition of pouring cider from above one’s head down to a glass held by their waist. The practice is used to add carbonation to otherwise flat cider made in northern Spain.
