Have you ever declared that you don’t like to eat a particular something-or-other and then someone comes along and prepares it in such a way your taste buds are blown away, your opinion does a 180, and you suddenly find yourself devouring a generous second portion and begging for the recipe? I have.

When asked to share a favorite recipe, Tristan Coddington chose the recipe, Haluski, because when she was growing up there always seemed to be a lot of family get-togethers. She said the gatherings usually involved some type of pot-luck meal with everyone contributing a dish of their own choosing. Although she didn’t know the name of the dish at the time, Tristan always looked forward to her Aunt Mindy bringing Haluski. Through the years, the family get-togethers became fewer and fewer. Eventually, Tristan moved over a thousand miles west and made her home in Osage County. It is in Pawhuska where she found her forever church family at St. Thomas Episcopal.

If you have had the privilege of knowing Florence Tranum, then you already know she is solely responsible for putting the “P” in PANACHE! Florence has always been one classy lassie and if any fashionista can stand out in a crowd; it’s FLORENCE!

Not everyone is a fan of quinoa but I sure am! Convincing my husband to merely LIKE it is a horse of a different color. However, I was able to get him to try the following recipe and he did manage to give me a thumbs up. I ate the lion’s share but he told me I could fix it again sometime (I am guessing for him that would be the 12th of Never).

There are many ways for a family’s legacy to be carried forward, and it seems oftentimes a grandmother’s legacy lives on through the food she once prepared. Someone will fondly recall her fried chicken, or another will exclaim about her coconut cream pie.

Anyone who knows Tina Miller Avallone knows she’s one amazing mom, wife, business woman andfriend.

Thanks to a generous, “just because” gift from our sweet friend, Becky Blackwood, we were treatedto a wonderful fundraising event for the Pawhuska High School girls softball team. The food was fantastic but as for me, the cupcakes donated by Christy Moody stole the show – talk about knocking one out of theballpark! Her cupcakes hit a home run. Later that evening I asked Christy if she would share herrecipe with me and true to her nature, she not only shared her recipe but shared her thoughts as well.Bless you, Christy Moody.
