It's been almost 10 years since Alan Yau took over a Soho pub and transformed it into Duck and Rice. A decade on, it seems it's time to expand as it's the latest place to find itself making its way to Battersea Power Station with a new location.

It opened in Mayfair 22 years ago and to start the new year Benares, the Michelin-starred Indian restaurant on Berkeley Square, has just had a big revamp. They brought in interior designer Dale Atkinson, of Rosendale Design (who also designed the recently opened Row on 5 from Jason Atherton) to overhaul things. The redesign takes in the entrance, the bar and the main dining room.

Last year, Tom Brown closed his Michelin-starred Cornerstone restaurant in Hackney. At the time, it was said that he was concentrating on Pearly Queen in Shoreditch as efforts to move Cornerstone to central London had fallen to the wayside. Now it seems that Brown has found another way to go central, and it's something of a homecoming.

They've run pop-ups and a very popular stall at Spitalfields Market but now the Crunch team are getting ready to bring their brioche sandwiches to Soho.

Seemingly not happy with having two restaurants in the nearby Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, chef Akira Back already has another hotel restaurant lined up, barely 15 minutes walk away.

Dishoom already has seven restaurants in London, but for the eighth, they're going in a (slightly) different direction. Outside of town, they've opened three Permit Rooms, which are essentially offshoots of the main Dishoom, billed instead as all-day bars and cafes, and now they're bringing one of those to Notting Hill.
