ROCHESTER, N.Y. – After enjoying some near perfect weather this Saturday, unfortunately, this tranquil weather will likely come to an end on Sunday. A cold front will be approaching Western New York Sunday, and the passage of this front will enhance a line of showers and thunderstorms. There is the potential for these storms to be strong and possible severe at times. The News10NBC First Alert meteorologists anticipate an arrival time for these storms to be near noon on Sunday and lasting until 6:00 PM. These storms look to have a potential impact for damaging winds, lightning, small hail, and localized flooding. As a result, News10NBC has issued a yellow alert for Sunday afternoon.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Strong storms with the potential for occasional lightning, heavy downpours, damaging winds, and small hail are now crossing Western New York. This line of thunderstorms continues to move west to east across the Rochester area with a likely timeframe of between 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. If you have the opportunity, before these storms arrive, it is recommended to charge your cell phone, secure outdoor furniture, do not drive on flooded roads, and never touch downed wires. As a result, News10NBC continues with a yellow alert through the remainder of the afternoon.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – You may have heard that a News10NBC Yellow Alert is in effect for Thursday. While our meteorologists are monitoring several weather concerns, the primary issue will be the potential for damaging winds.

Meteorologists and astronomers use two different methods to define the seasons.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Most of this spring season featured comfortable temperatures and lower humidity. It appears that trend will continue for the foreseeable future. A west-northwest wind flow will bring below normal temperatures, and dry air will be anchored across Western New York for the finish of the weekend. However, a fast-moving low-pressure system will be moving from Ohio across Pennsylvania early Monday. This will likely produce another round of soaking rain with the steadier and heavier rainfall located south of Rochester. We do not need the rain, and we do not want the rain, but it is expected to be a wet start to the work week.

Rochester has recorded only one day with a temperature above 90 degrees so far this season. Most people would probably agree that, overall, it has been a comfortable spring and early summer.
