ROCHESTER, N.Y. – We have a Yellow Alert up for today due to rain and a gusty thunderstorm chance. Although no severe weather is expected, this will have an impact on outdoor plans like the Jazz Festival and may lead to some isolated tree damage with the strongest winds. Greatest chance for stronger storms and thus possible wind damage will be near the Finger Lakes. Timing for storms is 2-8pm. Before then however, we’ll still have rain starting around 8am. This will keep us cool and wet, with highs only in the low 70s, falling to the upper 60s this afternoon. Rain should taper off by a few hours after sunset.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Nice conditions to end the workweek with partly to mostly cloudy skies, comfortable temperatures and humidity, and a slight northerly breeze that will calm down tonight. Tomorrow will be sunnier and still warm and comfortable with less of a breeze, but there is a chance of some spot afternoon showers near the Thruway and the Finger Lakes. Most of the day will be dry and beautiful however.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Expect great conditions for the vast majority of the last weekend in June. The only possible hiccup is a brief, small shower along lake breeze boundaries this afternoon, likely south of Rochester, but they won’t last long even if they do form. The rest of the day will be mostly sunny, with highs in the mid 70s, tolerable humidity, and light winds.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – We have an extended Yellow Alert up for Tuesday through Friday due to excessive heat and humidity, plus multiple chances for storms. As for today however, all is calm with mostly sunny conditions expected alongside tolerable humidity, light winds, and highs in the mid 80s. Some low lying areas and parts of downtown Rochester may get near 90.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Currently tracking a batch of strong thunder north of Toronto, moving southeast over Lake Ontario. It should weaken as it enters stable air over the lake, entering the Rochester region around 9am. We still may see shower and thunder activity through 10-11am northwest to southeast, but it should not be severe. However, the atmosphere is still primed for severe weather with the heat and humidity. If we get a “trigger” that sets more storms off, the main threats will be strong winds and large hail. Tornado activity is unlikely but not impossible. This afternoon should stay storm free for Rochester and the Finger Lakes, as highs reach the low 90s and heat index reaches 100 degrees. Limit time outdoors, use AC, drink lots of water, and check in on your neighbors.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – It’s day two of our four-day Yellow Alert with the main concern being excessive heat and humidity, with thunderstorms being a secondary concern. Temperatures this morning are in the low to mid 70s, and will peak in the mid 90s this afternoon amid mostly sunny skies. The humid air will cause heat index values to reach 105 to 110 degrees! A good day to stay inside with the AC cranking. If you have to go outside, try to limit your time and stay in the shade. Stay hydrated as well and check in on vulnerable neighbors.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Yellow Alert for dangerous heat and humidity continues… We’ll reach the 90s for the third day in a row, making this the first heatwave of the year. Temperatures are already starting in the upper 70s with saturated air, and the humidity will stay oppressive throughout the day pushing the heat index to 100 – 110 degrees. Limit your time outdoors, stay in the shade, stay cool, and stay hydrated.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Our Yellow Alert continues through most of today in anticipation of isolated to scattered strong to severe storms, with the main threats being strong winds, hail, and heavy downpours. Most of the morning will be dry but shower and storm activity is expected by 11am-12pm. Then storms will increase in coverage and intensity for the afternoon as highs reach around 80 degrees, and this will be the window for anything severe. ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A mainly dry and comfortable morning with cloudy skies and tolerable humidity that will rise over the next few hours. Low pressure to the southeast will help drive in some slow moving showers to our region by this afternoon and lasting into tonight. Some showers will get heavy and may feature a rumble of thunder but no severe weather expected. There may be some localized flooding in flood prone areas where the heaviest rain falls, and the greatest chance for this will be in portions of the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier. Highs today will be near 80.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Starting off this morning very comfortable with temperatures in the low to mid 60s, clear skies, and light winds. Fog will be creeping up from the Southern Tier into the Finger Lakes but should dissipate a few hours after sunrise.
