Introduction The success of primary teeth pulpectomy is strongly reliant on instrumentation techniques and their impact on obturation quality & postoperative pain. Recently, pediatric rotary file systems have been implemented. Aim to compare two pediatric rotary file systems (Kedo-S-Square & Fanta AF™ Baby) with manual K-files concerning obturation quality, instrumentation time, and postoperative pain in root canal preparation of primary molars using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). Methods A randomized clinical trial was conducted with the trial registration number (TRN: NCT05619796 and date of registration: (17/11/2022) on sixty primary lower 2nd molars in healthy children aged 4–7 years. Molars were assigned randomly to three groups (n = 20). Group-I and -II were prepared with Kedo-S-Square & Fanta AF™Baby rotary systems respectively while group-III was prepared with a manual K-file. Instrumentation time was recorded using a stopwatch. CBCT was used to assess obturation quality immediately & recorded as optimal, underfilled, or overfilled. Postoperative pain was evaluated at 6, 12, 24, 48 h-time intervals using a four-point pain intensity scale. Statistical analysis was performed for the collected data. Results Among the three groups, group-I revealed a greater number of optimally filled teeth (85%) & less instrumentation time (74.75 s) followed by group-II & manual-K file group (p < 0.05). The hand K-file group had significantly more postoperative pain than the two rotary groups (p < 0.05). Conclusion the tested rotary file systems resulted in better obturation quality, less instrumentation time, and less postoperative pain compared to manual-K files during primary teeth pulpectomy.

The main target of this study is to evaluate the impact of hybrid reinforcement using Al2O3 nanoparticles and graphite on the epoxy nanocomposites’ mechanical and tribological properties. Various weight fractions of the reinforcement materials, ranging from 0 to 0.5 wt.%, were incorporated into the epoxy. The aim is to enhance the characteristics and durability of the polymers for potential utilization in different mechanical applications. The addition of hybrid additives consisting of Al2O3 nanoparticles and graphite to the epoxy resin had a noticeable effect on the performance of the epoxy nanocomposites. The incorporation of these additives resulted in increased elasticity, strength, toughness, ductility, and hardness as the concentration of reinforcement increased. The enhancement in the stiffness, mechanical strength, toughness and ductility reached 33.9%, 25.97%, 25.3% and 16.7%, respectively. Furthermore, the frictional tests demonstrated a notable decrease in both the coefficient of friction and wear with the rise of the additives’ weight fraction. This improvement in the structural integrity of the epoxy nanocomposites led to enhanced mechanical properties and wear resistance. The SEM was utilized to assess the surfaces of tested samples and provide insights into the wear mechanism.

Drought stress is one of the main environmental challenges that dramatically reduce global rice production within several agricultural ecosystems. Breeding drought-tolerant rice genotypes is an important sustainable strategy to overcome this constraint. In this work, drought tolerance levels were assessed according to biochemical, anatomical, and molecular aspects, which led to selecting three promising crosses (Sakha 107 × Sakha super 300, Sakha 107 × M206, and Sakha 107 × Sakha 108) that were compared with their parents as controls. The antioxidant capabilities of the chosen potential crosses, such as the ascorbate peroxidase activity (APX), superoxide dismutase activity (SOD), catalase activity (CAT), and total phenolics, were significantly higher compared with their parents under drought stress. Moreover, the promising selected crosses could accumulate greater proline and chlorophyll contents. The potential superiority of the three selected rice crosses was anatomically represented throughout cross-sections of roots, stems, and leaves, which recorded higher values of cross-section diameter, epidermal thickness, cortex thickness, mesophyll thickness, and bundle sheath thickness as well as a broader range of xylem vessel diameters than their parents under a water deficit. The observed superiority of the antioxidant activities in the overall drought-tolerance mechanisms and anatomical characteristics reflected their protective role in the adaptation process under water stress. Molecular analyses using inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) markers suggested two promising crosses (Sakha 107 × Sakha super 300 and Sakha 107 × M206) to be the most suitable crosses for saving water. They had the highest similarity values and were grouped in a distinct cluster. The relative gene expression of OsACS2, OsCML31, OsCYP94C2a, and OsSRO1c was significantly elevated in the two selected drought-tolerant rice genotypes (Sakha 107 × Sakha super 300 and Sakha 107 × M206).

Background and Objectives: Ceritinib (CER) is a potent drug of the third-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitor class. CER has been approved for the treatment of patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) harboring the anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) mutation gene. In the literature, there is no green and high-throughput analytical method for the quantitation of CER in its dosage form (Zykadia® capsules). This study describes, for the first time, the development and validation of two novel one-step and green microwell spectrophotometric methods (MW-SPMs) for the high-throughput quantitation of CER in Zykadia® capsules. Materials and Methods: These two methods were based on an in microwell formation of colored derivatives upon the reaction of CER with two different benzoquinone reagents via two different mechanisms. These reagents were ortho-benzoquinone (OBQ) and 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone (DDQ), and their reactions proceeded via condensation and charge transfer reactions, respectively. The reactions were carried out in 96-well transparent plates, and the absorbances of the colored reaction products were measured with an absorbance microplate reader at 540 and 460 nm for reactions with OBQ and DDQ, respectively. The optimum conditions of reactions were established, their molar ratios were determined, and reaction mechanisms were postulated. Under the refined optimum reaction conditions, procedures of MW-SPMs were established and validated according to the guidelines of the International Council on Harmonization. Results: The limits of quantitation were 6.5 and 10.2 µg/well for methods involving reactions with OBQ and DDQ, respectively. Both methods were applied with great reliability to the determination of CER content in Zykadia® capsules and their drug uniformity. Greenness of the MW-SPMs was evaluated using three different metric tools, and the results proved that the two methods fulfil the requirements of green analytical approaches. In addition, the simultaneous handling of a large number of samples with microvolumes in the proposed methods gave them the advantage of a high-throughput analysis. Conclusions: The two methods are valuable tools for rapid routine application in pharmaceutical quality control units for the quantitation of CER.

Ceritinib (CER) is a potent drug that has been recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of patients with non-small cell lung cancer harboring the anaplastic lymphoma kinase mutation gene. The existing methods for the quality control of CER are very limited and suffer from limited analytical throughput and do not meet the requirements of the green analytical principles. This study presented the first-ever development and validation of three innovative green and high-throughput microwell spectrophotometric methods (MW-SPMs) for the quality control of CER in its dosage form (Zykadia® capsules). These MW-SPMs were based on the formation of colored N-vinylamino-substituted haloquinone derivatives of CER upon its reactions with each of chloranil, bromanil, and 2,3-dichloro-1,4-naphthoquinone in the presence of acetaldehyde. The optimized procedures of the MW-SPMs were established, and their analytical performances were validated according to the ICH. The linear range of the MW-SPMs was 5–150 µg/mL, with limits of quantitation of 5.3–7.6 µg/mL. The accuracy and precision of the MW-SPMs were proved, as the average recovery values were 99.9–101.0%, and the relative standard deviations did not exceed 1.8%. The three methods were applied to the determination of CER content in Zykadia® capsules and drug content uniformity testing. The greenness of the MW-SPMs was proved using three different metric tools. In addition, these methods encompassed the advantage of high-throughput analysis. In conclusion, the three methods are valuable tools for convenient and reliable application in the pharmaceutical quality control units for CER-containing capsules.

Obesity and asthma are two common health issues that have shown increased prevalence in recent years and have become a significant socioeconomic burden worldwide. Obesity increases asthma incidence and severity. Obese asthmatic individuals often experience increased exacerbation rates, enhanced airway remodeling, and reduced response to standard corticosteroid therapy. Recent studies indicate that obesity-associated non-T2 factors such as mechanical stress, hyperinsulinemia, systemic inflammation, adipose tissue mediators, metabolic dysregulation, microbiome dysbiosis, and high-fat-diet are responsible for increased asthma symptoms and reduced therapeutic response in obese asthmatic individuals. This manuscript reviews the recent findings highlighting the role of obesity-associated factors that contribute to airway hyper-reactivity, airway inflammation and remodeling, and immune cell dysfunction, consequently contributing to worsening asthma symptoms. Furthermore, the review also discusses the possible future therapies that might play a role in reducing asthma symptoms by diminishing the impact of obesity-associated non-T2 factors.

The solubility and solution thermodynamics of isotretinoin (ITN) (3) in numerous {dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) (1) + water (H2O) (2)} combinations were studied at 298.2–318.2 K under fixed atmospheric pressure of 101.1 kPa. A shake flask methodology was used to determine ITN solubility, and correlations were made using the “van’t Hoff, Apelblat, Buchowski-Ksiazczak λh, Yalkowsky-Roseman, Jouyban-Acree, and Jouyban-Acree-van’t Hoff models”. In mixtures of {(DMSO (1) + H2O (2)}, the solubility of ITN in mole fractions was enhanced with the temperature and DMSO mass fraction. The mole fraction solubility of ITN was highest in neat DMSO (1.02 × 10−1 at 318.2 K) and lowest in pure H2O (3.14 × 10−7 at 298.2 K). The output of computational models revealed good relationships between the solubility data from the experiments. The dissolution of ITN was “endothermic and entropy-driven” in all of the {(DMSO (1) + H2O (2)} mixtures examined, according to the positive values of measured thermodynamic parameters. Enthalpy was discovered to be the driving force behind ITN solvation in {(DMSO (1) + H2O (2)} combinations. ITN-DMSO displayed the highest molecular interactions when compared to ITN-H2O. The outcomes of this study suggest that DMSO has a great potential for solubilizing ITN in H2O.

A perfect protective fabric for handicapped individuals must be lightweight, waterproof, breathable, and able to absorb water. We present a multifunctional protective fabric in which one side is hydrophobic based on the intrinsic hydrophobic biopolymer polylactic acid (PLA) to keep the disabled person from getting wet, while the other side is super-hydrophilic due to embedded silica nanoparticles (NPs) to keep the disabled person safe from a sudden spill of water or other beverage on their skin or clothes. The porosity of the electrospun nanofibrous structure allows the fabric to be breathable, and the silica NPs play an important role as a perfect infrared reflector to keep the person’s clothing cool on warm days. Adding white NPs, such as silicon dioxide, onto or into the textile fibers is an effective method for producing thermally insulated materials. Due to their ability to efficiently block UV light, NPs in a network keep the body cool. Such a multifunctional fabric might be ideal for adult bibs and aprons, outdoor clothing, and other amenities for individuals with disabilities.

As inculcating green intention and behaviour among individuals, particularly potential entrepreneurs (students), has recently become a hot topic of discussion, it is essential to contribute to this debate by offering empirical evidence. Accordingly, the objective of this study is to examine how green mindfulness (GM) and spiritual intelligence (SPI) enhance environmental self-identity (ESI). This study also examined the role of GM and SPI in developing green entrepreneurial intention (GEI). The study investigated whether ESI could mediate the relationship between GM, SPI, and GEI. The study gathered information from 202 students at King Faisal University’s Business Administration and Applied Colleges in Saudi Arabia using a self-administered questionnaire for these objectives. The study employed partial least-squares structural equation modeling to analyse the data. The study revealed some interesting findings. It was discovered that GM has a direct and significant positive association with ESI and GEI. Furthermore, it was also reported that SPI has a positive and significant connection with ESI, but no positive relationship with GEI. ESI revealed the existence of a meaningful positive relationship with GEI. Finally, when examining the mediating role played by the ESI, the study reported the inability of the ESI to mediate the relationship between GM and GEI. At the same time, it was able to fully mediate between SPI and GEI. The study provides a set of recommendations for policymakers and other stakeholders. The study is considered one of few studies investigating the key factors influencing GEI among students.

BackgroundFever is a common presentation in pediatric age groups and is the most common reason for healthcare visits. Parents’ knowledge is essential for early presentation to healthcare facilities and to prevent possible complications. Studies suggest that febrile convulsions (FCs) often cause stress and anxiety for parents, who often assume it may cause brain damage, future epilepsy attacks, mental retardation, physical injury, and even death. This study aims to assess the knowledge, attitude, and practices of FCs among parents.MethodologyThis cross-sectional study was conducted among parents living in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with children younger than 14 years of age. A self-administered questionnaire was distributed among the selected population using an online survey. The questionnaire included socio-demographic data, family experiences of FC, practice toward a child with FC, and questions assessing knowledge, attitude, and concerns.ResultsOf the 415 recruited parents, 350 (84.3%) were mothers, and 56.4% were government employees. Regarding monthly income, 172 (41.4%) were earning more than 15,000 SAR per month. The prevalence of parents with having a child with FC was 33%. Overall, 369 (88.9%) had poor knowledge, 41 (9.9%) had moderate knowledge, and only five (1.2%) had good knowledge levels. Regarding attitude, more than one-third (200, 35.2%), had a negative attitude, 205 (49.4%) were neutral, and the rest had positive attitude levels (64, 15.4%). Increased knowledge and attitude toward FC were associated with having a child or siblings of a child with FC. Regarding the practice and the plan of action for future FC occurrence, the most common was to rush the child to a doctor (94, 68.6%), followed by lowering the child’s body temperature (78, 56.9%), and placing the child on his/her side (54, 39.4%).ConclusionsThere was an optimistic attitude toward a child with FC but knowledge was deficient. However, parents who had a child or siblings experiencing FC were more knowledgeable, while parents with higher education and better income tended to exhibit better attitudes when managing a child with FC. Further investigations are needed to establish the level of understanding and perspectives of parents when managing a child with FC.
