The Choteau High School girls volleyball team will see its first competition this week with a 13-team junior varsity jamboree on Thursday, Aug. 29, starting at 12 p.m. and the 15-team varsity preseason tournament on Friday at 9 a.m. and Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
The Choteau High School Bulldogs will run varsity and junior varsity football programs this fall with 28 high schoolers out for eight-man football. The varsity team will play its first game of the season on Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. on the road against Shelby High School. (This is a schedule change as the game was originally set for Aug. 30.)
The Teton County Commissioners on Sept. 3 lifted Stage 1 fire restrictions, the county's new fire warden Ben Rhodes announced today. The lifting of the restrictions means that open burning with a permit is again allowed in the county. Those planning to do open burning should take precautions to make sure that a planned fire doesn't get out of control as conditions are still very dry. State and federal Stage 1 fire restrictions may still be in effect so people planning to recreate on the National Forest or on Montana state lands should check with those agencies before using lighting campfires.
