It’s three days before Christmas and the reposts keep on coming. I made only one tweak this year: adding the clip of Darlene Love on Letterman.

I’m feeling a bit punchy after this long and difficult year. Illness and electoral defeat take a lot out of a guy. Nobody wants to spend a lot of time pondering politics in the waning days of the year. It’s why Biden has gone quiet and past presidents like Regan and Obama kept a low profile during the holidays.

It was a quiet Christmas day at Adrastos World HQ. 2024 was such a bad year for us that I eagerly await 2025. I’m ready to turn the page on my annus horribilus BUT I’m not ready to write about politics this morning. I’m trying something completely different.

This post has a weird inspiration. The other night, Dr. A and I watched the OG movie of The Man Who Came To Dinner. Monty Wooley stars as the irascible Sheridan Whiteside; not to be confused with droll Senator Sheldon Whitehouse. Monty Woolley was Cole Porter’s best friend hence this song selection. Told ya it was weird.

It’s time for my annual exercise in egomania. It was a tough year for me, but I’ve gone over that in sufficient detail already. That’s why the first post detailing my ordeal did not make the cut. The terrorist attack on my city has thrown me for a loop. It messed up my writing plans for this week, but I’m muddling through, making choices on the fly. We’ll see how it works out today.
