Xiao Bao Bao Plans Closure In a recent social media post, Xiao Bao Bao announced the closure of both its Salt Lake locations. The restaurant concept from Romina Rasmussen and brothers Derrick and Dwight Yee started out as a pop-up concept that served hand-made bao stuffed with flavorful combos like chicken curry and eggplant. Rasmussen opened the restaurant’s first storefront in the space that previously belonged to her bakery Les Madeleines, and expanded to a second location in the Milk Block district. The post announced the restaurant’s plan to stagger the closures; Milk Block will close at the end of May, and the downtown location will close at the end of June.

Bambara Hosts Matrons of Mayhem Local drag troupe The Matrons of Mayhem will be headlining two brunch shows (one at 10 a.m. and one at 12:30 p.m.) at Bambara (bambara-slc.com) on June 6 for a positively delicious Pride Month kickoff. The three-course brunch menu will include a wide variety of options, starting with a choice of melon and berry salad infused with passionfruit, or a honey-glazed bun topped with cinnamon granola and caramelized pecans. Entrees include a choice of seafood-centric pappardelle cioppino or a short rib hash benedict. The dessert course will feature a peanut butter crunch bar and a sable cookie. A portion of all proceeds will go directly to the Queens and The Trevor Project.

Midvale’s historic Main Street is one of those pockets of local culture that always catches me by surprise. It’s not a large avenue, by any stretch.
